The MySET Professional Assessment Examination (PAE) is a professional assessment programme conducted by the Malaysian Society for Engineering & Technology (MySET) on behalf of the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM). It provides a pathway for eligible Graduate Engineers to demonstrate their professional competence and qualify for registration as a Professional Engineer (PEng).
The Outcome-Based PAE evaluates candidates based on the knowledge, skills, experience, and professional attributes they have acquired through practical engineering work. Rather than focusing solely on theoretical knowledge, the assessment measures candidates’ ability to apply engineering principles, solve complex problems, communicate effectively, uphold ethical standards, and demonstrate professional responsibility.
The assessment process typically includes the submission of a Training and Experience Report, a professional interview with a presentation, and a written essay on engineering ethics and professional conduct. Candidates are assessed against competency standards established by the Board of Engineers Malaysia to ensure they are capable of practising engineering independently and responsibly.
The MySET PAE plays an important role in developing competent and ethical engineering professionals while supporting Malaysia’s commitment to maintaining high standards in the engineering profession and aligning with international best practices.
