Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

The Malaysian Society for Engineering and Technology (MySET) has been appointed by the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) as Certified Body, to implement and administer BEM’s policy on the application of pre-approved CPD activity. MySET shall responsible to conduct the assessments, audits and certifications as per standards and requirements set by the BEM.

APPLICATION FOR BEM PRE-APPROVED CPD ACTIVITY BY MySET

The approval for pre-approved CPD activity application must adhere to the following procedures:

  • The submission of BEM Pre-Approved CPD Activity application shall be made at least 2 months prior to the event date.
  • Training Provider (Applicants) is to complete and submit BEM Pre-Approved CPD Activity form by MySET, together with the supporting documents as follows:
    • Official Cover Letter with Company Letterhead
    • BEM Pre-Approved CPD Activity Form by MySET: click here
    • Details of Programme, brochure/proposal/ itinerary
    • Speakers CV
  • Payment must be made upon submission of CPD form. MySET Secretariat shall update on the application status to the training provider once reviewed by the CPD assessor.
PROCESSING FEE
Organisation will be charge based on per activity/ programme submitted. Application will only be processed once the payment is clear. Commencing in 2025, the following are the revised fees for Pre-Approved CPD application:

For applicants who is an active MySET member with no outstanding membership
fee for the current year
RM 100.00 processing fee will be imposed for any unsuccessful applications, commencing July 2024.
PROCEDURES FOR PRE-APPROVED CPD ACTIVITY APPLICATION
  1. The committee receives a completed Pre-Approved CPD activity application 2 months prior an event. Application received less than 2 months will be subjected to CPD Committee discretion.
  2. The CPD Assessors will do the assessment with recommendation of CPD hour and programme.
  3. Queries (Q&A) may occurs from the submission of the Pre-Approved CPD activity.
  4. The CPD Committee will issue the approval or rejection letter based on the Q&A and the submission.
  5. The result is to submitted to the CPD Committee for consent / endorsement. The Secretary General is mandated to issue the leeter of approval or rejection prior to endorsement meeting if needed
  6. Training provider may use the approval of CPD hour for promotion purposes. However, the usage of BEM and MySET logo in any promotional materials is strictly prohibited.
  7. The MySET CPD committee shall organise an audit to the selected CPD activity approved, to monitor the programme without prior notice.
CHANGE OF EVENT DETAILS
  1. Requests for changes to the approved event date must be submitted at least one (1) month prior to the scheduled event date.
  2. Requests submitted less than one (1) month before the scheduled event date shall be considered on a case-by-case basis and are subject to CPD Committee approval.
  3. Approved amendments shall not materially alter the objectives, scope, or learning outcomes of the originally approved CPD activity.
  4. Amendments involving programme content, speakers, duration, delivery mode, or event format may require re-assessment and re-approval by MySET.
  5. Training Providers shall notify MySET immediately of any significant changes affecting the approved CPD activity.
CANCELLATION POLICY

Where a pre-approved CPD activity that has been submitted to BEM is cancelled after the approved event date:

  1. The original CPD approval shall automatically lapse and be considered void.
  2. The Training Provider must submit a new application for approval should the activity be rescheduled or conducted at a later date.
  3. CPD approval granted for the cancelled activity shall not be transferred automatically to any subsequent event date.
  4. Any rescheduled activity shall be assessed as a new CPD application in accordance with the prevailing requirements and guidelines.
